SEN Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel
Newcastle upon Tyne

Our client, a dynamic and forward-thinking educational institution located in the vibrant city of Newcastle upon Tyne, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is committed to making a difference in the lives of children with diverse learning needs.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant , you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of our students. Your primary responsibilities will involve working closely with our teachers and specialists to ensure our students receive the individualised attention and support they require to thrive. This may include providing one-on-one or small-group assistance, helping with lesson planning and delivery, and implementing specialised teaching strategies tailored to each student's unique needs.

We are looking for someone who possesses a genuine passion for working with children and a deep understanding of the challenges and rewards that come with supporting students with special educational needs. You should have a strong background in education or a related field, as well as a proven track record of working effectively with children in a classroom or similar setting.

In this role, you will be expected to work collaboratively with our team of dedicated teachers, therapists, and other support staff to ensure our students receive a well-rounded and inclusive education. This may involve participating in regular meetings, contributing to the development of Individualised Education Plans (IEPs), and providing feedback on student progress.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be required to liaise with parents, caregivers, and other stakeholders to ensure a seamless and supportive learning experience for our students. You should also be highly organised, adaptable, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment, as each day may present unique challenges and opportunities.

In return for your hard work and dedication, our client offers a competitive daily rate of £90 to £110, depending on your experience and qualifications. Additionally, we provide ongoing professional development opportunities to help you grow and enhance your skills, ensuring you are equipped to provide the best possible support to our students.

  • Provide one-on-one or small-group support to students with special educational needs, working closely with teachers and specialists to implement personalised learning strategies
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of engaging and inclusive lessons, adapting materials and activities as needed to meet the diverse needs of our students
  • Monitor and document student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and contributing to the development of Individualised Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, therapists, and other support staff, to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to student learning and development
  • Facilitate social and emotional learning opportunities, helping students develop important life skills and fostering a sense of belonging and community
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures to ensure the wellbeing and safety of our students
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to continuously improve your skills and knowledge in supporting students with special educational needs
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role supporting children with special educational needs
  • A relevant educational or vocational qualification, such as a Teaching Assistant Diploma or NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning
  • A deep understanding of the diverse needs of students with special educational needs and the strategies and interventions required to support their learning and development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • A passion for working with children and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact on their lives
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of our students and the wider school community

If you meet the above qualifications and are excited about the prospect of joining our dynamic team, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding and fulfilling role. Together, we can create a truly inclusive and transformative educational experience for our students.
