Children & Young People’s Counsellor

We are currently recruiting a Children and Young People’s Counsellor to join the team at Newcastle Hospice. If you’re passionate about making a real difference and supporting families through some of life’s most challenging moments, we’d love to hear from you.

Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale (aligned with AFC) Band 6 £39,959 - £48,117 per annum (pro rata)

Hours/Contract: Part Time – 30 hours per week – (Monday to Friday)

Contract Type: Permanent

Based: Newcastle Hospice and Community

We are looking for a compassionate and skilled professional to deliver a flexible counselling service to children and young people experiencing grief and loss in. In this deeply meaningful role, you’ll also support and guide patients and carers, helping them feel confident in supporting the children and young people within their family.

Working in close partnership with the wider multidisciplinary team, you will deliver support across community, educational, children’s home and hospice settings, helping to provide high-quality, responsive and compassionate care for families at critical times.

What we’re looking for

• Degree/ Diploma in Child Counselling
• Member of BACP.
• Significant post-qualification with additional experience of working in an educational environment
• Knowledge of bereavement, loss and trauma would be advantageous.
• Excellent organisational, communication and record keeping skills
• Knowledge of safeguarding
• Driving and access to own vehicle for business use.
