NU Transition – Project Officer JOB SUMMARY:
To deliver high quality education programmes in Benfield School and the wider NEAT Trust PrimarySchools which uses the brand of Newcastle United Football Club and the passion for football toinspire students to reach their potential, interventions will focus on Transition (Year 6/7) and PreNEET students (Year 11) to students with a range of needs.The role requires a passion for delivering innovative courses, programmes and activities to engagesecondary and primary schools pupils in learning as part of Newcastle United Foundation Primaryand Secondary School education programme. MAIN DUTIES:
Direct or Indirect responsibility
Duties/Responsibilities • To deliver the Foundation’s educational programmes in Benfield and wider NEATTrust Schools.• To plan, deliver and evaluate sessions, workshops and activities at schools acrossTyneside and Northumberland and at NUCASTLE and St James’ Park.• Support pupils who may face barriers to learning – displaying empathy, trust andrapport.• Ensure an excellent standard of delivery and to lead on all activities, taught sessionsand workshops at both practical and theory-based activities.• Ensure registration and monitoring information is collected and data entrycompleted as required to meet internal and external deadlines and externalassessment criteria.• Ensure the appropriate supervision and safeguarding of participants, followingFoundation and school policies and procedures.• Ensure that courses and activities meet the needs of all pupils including those withdisabilities and those from black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities.• Supervise pupils during sessions, confirming any behaviour management protocolto be followed.• Help the Foundation seek feedback from pupils and teachers.• Support colleagues to deliver other secondary education programmes as required.• Support the Project Coordinator to produce resources and learning materials.• Present a professional image of Newcastle United Foundation at all times, wearingofficially branded kit when appropriate.• Regularly identify and share good news stories with the Communications Manager PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential or Desirable Requirement Qualification/Education E/D • Maths and English GCSE or equivalent• Teaching qualification or award (e.g. PTTLS)• Football or sports awards• Valid Emergency First Aid Award and Valid Safeguarding award Experience • Delivering learning programmes that engage secondary school pupils in a paid orvoluntary capacity.• Developing schemes of work, lesson plans and accompanying resources• Experience of working as a teaching/learning support assistant in a paid orvoluntary capacity.• Experience of working with pupils facing barriers to participation or learning Specialist Training • Behaviour/conflict management• Assessors / moderation qualification• (Specialist training will be offered in the role) Aptitude or Skill • An ability to build good working relationships with both pupils and teachers• Good organisational skills• Flexibility and creativity• Excellent literacy and numeracy skills• Ability to manage groups of pupils and deal with challenging behaviour• Good IT skills• Able to work as a part of a team• Able to work independently• An understanding of and commitment to equality and diversity• Able to use own transport Personal Characteristics • Commitment to the mission, aims and values of the Foundation• Passion for helping pupils to learn• Desire to maintain up to date qualifications• An understanding of and commitment to equality and diversity Special Terms
Special Conditions 39 hours per week, term time only, plus 12.5 days during school holidays as directed by theFoundation at the start of each school year Working in different locations This post will be based at Benfield school and working across other schools in the NEAT Trust. GENERAL STATEMENT
