Your responsibilities will include:
• Delivering engaging, structured language lessons
• Supporting students in developing confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing
• Following a carefully sequenced and vocabulary-rich curriculum
• Contributing to GCSE exam preparation and intervention
• Participating in departmental planning and professional development
The MFL curriculum emphasises fluency, retrieval practice and cultural awareness. Lessons are designed to build secure grammatical understanding alongside communicative competence.

This Newcastle secondary is experienced in developing Early Career Teachers and provides a structured induction programme.
You will benefit from:
• A reduced timetable in line with ECT entitlement
• A dedicated MFL subject mentor
• Weekly instructional coaching sessions
• Regular observation and feedback cycles
• Whole-school CPD focused on behaviour, modelling and assessment
Shared planning resources and centralised schemes of learning ensure consistency and reduce unnecessary workload.
The Department

Department strengths include:
• Dedicated language classrooms with interactive technology
• Strong emphasis on retrieval and spaced practice
• Cultural enrichment activities and language clubs
• Opportunities for exchanges or virtual international partnerships
• Growing GCSE uptake and improving outcomes
The department works closely with literacy leads to strengthen vocabulary development and structured writing across year groups.
The School Environment

Facilities have been upgraded in recent years, including improved classroom technology and communal learning spaces. Pastoral systems are strong, ensuring students receive appropriate academic and emotional support.
