Maintenance Operative (Newcastle upon Tyne | Full Time | £14.20/hr)

Job Overview:
We're recruiting a Maintenance Operative to support a busy care home.
Every day is different and you will work indoors and outdoors completing a variety of tasks to ensure the building and grounds are well maintained and we are compliant with Health and Safety legislation.
A key part of the role is ensuring all required checks are completed regularly, you will need to have good time management skills and be able to prioritise your workload.
The Maintenance Operative is a key member of the team and is responsible for the general maintenance of the building, liaising with external contractors, completing safety checks and decorating, gardening and much more!
The successful candidate may also be required to carry out additional duties as reasonably requested.
Location : The service’s premises, but you may be required to work from other locations at the discretion of the company and with appropriate notice.
Role-specific Duties:
The Maintenance Operative responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Assist in the assessment of the effectiveness of maintenance implementation and delivery.
Implement actions to meet and maintain maintenance standards.
Systematically solve day-to-day problematical issues which arise.
Follow legislative requirements and relative regulations.
Be responsible for promoting and protecting the welfare of those individuals supported by the service.
Working with Others
Develop effective working relationships with colleagues within the service.
Maintain and develop relationships with residents loved ones.
Leading by Example
Seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Act as a role model for others and an ambassador for the service.
Be professional, polite, and reasonable at all times.

Understand the regulatory framework governing the service, including CQC requirements.
To maintain maintenance skills at a current level and undertake such training and development as may, from time-to-time, be required in order to maintain up-to-date knowledge.
Attend mandatory and other training as directed by management.

About The Role
Essential Criteria
Qualifications
Good English (written and verbal).
Vocational qualification/HNC/City and Guilds in Maintenance or Building Services
Skills
Communication skills to build rapport with residents, communicate effectively with them, and colleagues.
Problem-solving skills to adapt to and address situations quickly, develop solutions, and recognise/report situations requiring protection.
Previous Experience
Previous maintenance experience.
