Learning Support Assistant
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Job Type: Full-time or Part time (term time only). Long term, short term or Adhoc
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Start Date: ASAP We are seeking caring, dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join a number of SEN schools in Newcastle. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with a range of SEN, helping them build confidence, develop key skills, and thrive both academically and socially. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting pupils with SEN in class and in small group interventions
- Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning activities
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Helping create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
- Supporting pupils with communication, social, and independence skills
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals
- Has experience working with children, ideally within SEN
- Is patient, empathetic, and able to build positive relationships
- Has strong communication and teamwork skills
- Is proactive, reliable, and adaptable
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and inclusion
