Graduate Estimator (Furniture & Interiors)

Location: Newcastle (Hoults Yard)

Salary: Starting £25,000 + structured progression

Type: Full-Time, Permanent

The Opportunity

At Workwell Furniture, we deliver furniture and interior solutions across workplace, education, healthcare and public sector projects.

We’re looking for a Graduate Estimator to join us — not as a finished product, but as someone we can develop into a key commercial member of the business.

This role is designed as a clear pathway into estimating, commercial management and project delivery, with real responsibility, real projects, and real progression.

Career progression (transparent and structured)

We don’t believe in vague progression, as such we have a defined, results driven graduate pathway:

  • Starting salary: £25,000
  • End of Year 1: £30,000
  • End of Year 2: £35,000
  • End of Year 3: £40,000

By the end of Year 3, you will be operating as a confident Commercial Interiors Estimator, capable of pricing projects, building specifications, and managing supplier relationships.

What you’ll learn

You’ll receive full training, not just systems, but how the industry actually works:

  • How to build and price commercial furniture schedules from real project briefs
  • How to interpret architectural drawings, specifications and tender documents
  • How to value engineer and make commercial decisions
  • How to work with designers, architects and clients
  • How to engage with manufacturers and negotiate pricing

You’ll also gain exposure to:

  • AutoCAD and space planning
  • Product specification and interior finishes
  • Commercial tools and tender tracking systems

Real project exposure (from day one)

You won’t be stuck behind a desk.

You’ll work across live projects in:

  • Healthcare
  • Workplace
  • Education
  • Public sector

This includes:

  • Attending site visits
  • Joining client and design team meetings
  • Seeing how projects move from concept to installation

Beyond the office

This role isn’t just office-based learning.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Visit manufacturers and showrooms
  • Attend industry events
  • Travel to Clerkenwell Design Week in London annually to understand trends, products and the wider market

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be trained to:

  • Build priced furniture schedules from project briefs
  • Analyse tender packs and drawings
  • Work with the design team on layouts and specifications
  • Source products and liaise with manufacturers
  • Support client submissions and proposals
  • Track projects and support the wider commercial team

You don’t need experience, we’ll train you.

  • Comfortable with numbers and detail
  • Curious and willing to learn

Relevant degrees could include:

  • Business / Finance
  • Construction / Built Environment
  • Design / Interiors
  • Or other for the right person.
