Job Description

As a Senior JavaScript Developer, you will join a cross-functional Scrum Team working collaboratively in an Agile environment. You will drive key frontend and backend technology decisions and build maintainable, scalable solutions for our clients. This role offers strong opportunities for continuous learning, technical ownership, and growth as a well-rounded developer.

You will develop modern applications using JavaScript and relevant frameworks, hosted on Microsoft Windows servers. In addition, you will work with backend services built using C#/.NET and relational data structures in MSSQL. While GIS experience is beneficial, it can be taught; strong JavaScript expertise combined with solid backend engineering fundamentals is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain applications using JavaScript across frontend services.
• Work with C#/.NET components as part of the application backend where required.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs.
• Develop and maintain database logic using Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL).
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows.
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure high code quality.
• Collaborate within a Scrum Team, actively participating in all Agile ceremonies.
• (Optional / Trainable) Work with GIS technologies such as the ESRI SDK and ArcGIS suite to integrate spatial data and mapping capabilities into applications.

Qualifications

Essential

• 10+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of recent JavaScript experience.
  • Pure JavaScript required; TypeScript experience is acceptable provided there is demonstrable pure JavaScript in your work history.
• Proficiency in a modern JavaScript framework — React, Vue.js, or Angular (or equivalent SPA framework).
• 2+ years of .NET experience (.NET Core or .NET Framework).
• 2+ years of Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) experience.
  • Writing and optimising queries, stored procedures, and database design.

GIS & Mapping Experience

• Experience with GIS tools and mapping libraries, particularly:
  • Esri / ArcGIS JS SDK (strongly preferred).
  • Alternatively: MapBox GL JS, OpenLayers, Leaflet, or similar.
• Familiarity with spatial data formats (GeoJSON, WKT, Shapefiles, etc.).
• Experience consuming and publishing map services (WMS, WFS, ArcGIS REST services).
• Understanding of coordinate reference systems and spatial projections.

Bonus Skills

• Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise / ArcGIS Online / Portal for ArcGIS.
• Exposure to spatial SQL (geometry/geography types in MSSQL).
• Experience with version control (Git / TFS).
• Knowledge of RESTful API design and integration.
• Familiarity with Agile / Scrum delivery environments.
