Health & Safety Manager (Fire & Facilities)
This is a fire‑focused specialist role, with additional responsibility for supporting facilities management and construction / refurbishment projects. Day‑to‑day FM delivery is managed by an external provider, allowing this role to focus on oversight, compliance and specialist advice.
Key Responsibilities Act as the competent person for fire safety across the estate
Lead and manage the fire risk assessment programme and associated action plans
Provide specialist advice on fire safety legislation, standards and best practice
Oversee the asbestos management arrangements, including contractor management
Support construction and FM activity, including CDM compliance
Investigate incidents and provide pragmatic, proportionate solutions
Work closely with senior stakeholders while maintaining a positive, collaborative safety culture
Essential Requirements Level 6 Health & Safety qualification (desirable)
Recognised fire safety qualification
Third‑party certified Fire Risk Assessor / Auditor
Asbestos Management qualification (Desirable)
Significant H&S experience within a large, multi‑site environment
Strong communicator - practical, approachable, not overly regimentedExperience within higher education, local authority, NHS or similar public‑sector estates would suit this role particularly well.
The Package A salary of between £47,000 - £55,000 (DOE)
35 days holiday + Bank holidays + Christmas closure
