About the Role
As Teacher of Design Technology , you will teach across Key Stages 3 and 4 , with the possibility of contributing to KS5 depending on experience and specialism. You will deliver a curriculum that encourages creativity, problem-solving and practical application.
Students develop skills in areas such as:
Product design and iterative development
Practical workshop skills and safe use of equipment
CAD/CAM design and digital manufacturing processes
Materials technology, including woods, polymers and metals
Design analysis and evaluation
Lessons are structured to develop students’ ability to move from concept to prototype, combining creativity with technical understanding. You will guide students through the design process while building strong practical confidence and independent thinking.
The Department
The Technology department is supportive and collaborative, with teachers working together to plan engaging projects and share resources. The department values creativity, innovation and real-world learning experiences.
Students are encouraged to explore design challenges that develop problem-solving skills and practical competence. GCSE Design Technology is a popular option, and the department supports students through well-structured coursework guidance and exam preparation.
