Residential Care Officer Apprenticeships

Newcastle upon Tyne
Our Children’s Residential Service is looking for compassionate and motivated people to join the team as an Apprentice Residential Care Officer in one of the Council’s children’s homes.

What will I be doing?

You will be working closely with a team of compassionate and experienced Residential Care Officers. With support, you will work directly with young people living in our residential homes, contributing to high-quality, individualised care and support.

What will I need?

You don’t need previous experience, and you will be supported to learn the role. We are looking for someone who is compassionate and interested in a rewarding career supporting young people.

Please see the supporting documents, including the person specification, which sets out the qualities we are looking for.

What will I receive in return?

We’ll support you to learn new skills, and to thrive in your role, undertaking a Children, Young People and Families Practitioner Level 4 Apprenticeship. The role is full time (37 hours per week) for a fixed term of 2 years. At Newcastle City Council our apprentices are paid a percentage of the salary for the role the apprentice is working towards. This is always at least National Minimum Wage and increases each year as you develop your knowledge and skills.

This apprenticeship role is working towards the full role of Residential Care Officer, N6, £32,597.
In Y1 you will be paid 60% of the salary rate, or NMW, whichever is higher. In Y2 you will be paid 65% of the salary rate, or NMW, whichever is higher.

Whilst we are unable to guarantee a post in the role apprentices work towards, all our apprentices are supported to apply for suitable vacancies when they complete their apprenticeship so that they can make use of their new skills and qualifications.

Join us?

If you believe this could be the right opportunity for you and you want to make a positive difference to the lives of young people, we would love to hear from you.

Please note: You will need to be 21 years or over to apply for this position.

For an informal discussion on this exciting opportunity please feel free to contact: Christine Logan [email protected]

Apply online at , select 'Apply Now' and complete our online application form. Before completing the form please ensure you read the supporting documents. Any communication sent to you regarding your application will be sent to the email address you have set up on your Northeast Jobs account, so you will need to ensure that you check your inbox.
