SENCo | Reputable Secondary School in Newcastle
We are pleased to partner with a well-regarded secondary school in Newcastle, recognized for its commitment to inclusive education and student well-being. They are seeking an experienced and passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join their dedicated team in a full-time, permanent capacity starting this September.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that students with special educational needs receive the support and resources they require to thrive academically and personally. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young people and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the school's Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision.
- Develop and implement effective SEN policies and procedures in line with current legislation and best practices.
- Oversee the assessment and identification of students with SEN, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEN provision, making recommendations for improvement as needed.
- Provide training and support to staff on SEN-related matters.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.
- National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO) or willingness to work towards it.
- Significant experience working with students with a range of special educational needs.
- In-depth knowledge of SEN legislation and best practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
