Role Overview
The organisation is seeking a proactive Compliance Officer to join its busy property management business, working within the Compliance Department alongside the Head of Compliance. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills and a solid understanding of compliance practices and regulatory requirements relevant to property management.
While legal expertise is not essential, an awareness of industry standards and regulatory bodies is required. The role suits an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can support the integration of compliance across all property management activities.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an effective communicator, capable of liaising confidently with colleagues, contractors, and regulatory bodies. They will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
Experience in compliance or a similar role is desirable; however, a willingness to learn and adapt is equally valued. The ability to track, document, and coordinate regulatory requirements will be critical to success, alongside a commitment to maintaining high standards and contributing to a positive team culture.
Key Responsibilities
The Compliance Officer will support the delivery and continuous improvement of the organisation’s compliance framework across its property portfolio. Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the scheduling, tracking, and completion of statutory inspections and servicing
- Managing certification records and renewal processes to ensure ongoing compliance
- Liaising with contractors and internal teams to ensure compliance activities are completed within required timeframes
- Supporting the management of tenant complaints and disputes, including preparing responses, reviewing documentation, and assisting with deposit-related matters
- Ensuring complaints are accurately logged, monitored, and resolved within agreed timelines
- Assisting with the implementation of regulatory requirements across the organisation, including tenant onboarding processes and Right to Rent checks
- Supporting the development, review, and maintenance of internal policies, procedures, and compliance documentation
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date compliance records and systems
- Collaborating with internal departments to promote and embed compliance best practices in daily operations
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties to support the wider business and compliance function
Person Specification
Essential:
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Understanding of compliance within a regulated environment
- Knowledge or exposure to regulatory frameworks or working with a regulatory body
- Experience handling queries, complaints, or administrative processes
- Strong written communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience within property, lettings, student accommodation, or a similar environment
- Exposure to compliance, governance, or risk-related roles
- Experience coordinating with external contractors or stakeholders
- Experience supporting internal policies, procedures, or operational documentation
