An ambitious and oversubscribed secondary academy - Newcastle is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic History Teacher to join its thriving Humanities department from September . This is a full-time, permanent position , ideal for a teacher who is passionate about bringing history to life and helping pupils develop strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging History lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Preparing pupils for GCSE examinations

  • Encouraging analytical thinking and historical enquiry

  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing structured feedback

  • Supporting curriculum development within the Humanities department

  • Contributing to enrichment activities such as trips and themed events

  • Creating an inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners

  • Participating in departmental meetings and whole-school initiatives

Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

  • Have strong subject knowledge in History

  • Be confident teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Demonstrate excellent classroom management skills

  • Be able to motivate and engage pupils of all abilities

  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative department
