Optical Assistant – Newcastle (Byker, Community-Focused Practice)
Are you an experienced Optical Assistant looking for a full-time role in a vibrant, community-driven practice?
We’re working with a well-established practice in Byker, Newcastle, where the focus is firmly on delivering accessible, high-quality eye care to the local community. This is a practice with real history — the starting point of a respected optical journey — and it still holds those core values today.
The Role
This is a full-time position where you’ll play a key role in supporting both the clinical and retail side of the business.
You’ll be involved in:
Welcoming and supporting patients throughout their journey Pre-screening using modern diagnostic equipment Assisting with frame styling and dispensing Managing bookings and day-to-day front-of-house duties Delivering a high standard of patient care in a busy NHS-led environment The Practice

Previous Optical Assistant experience (essential) Confident communicator with a friendly, approachable manner Organised and able to work in a busy environment Passion for patient care and community-focused optics A team player with a positive, proactive attitude Why Join?

- Full time 5 days Quarterly salary increases possible (last quarter 18 employees got a raise) Pension contribution – Nest (3% / 5% - total contribution of 8%) Holidays – 20 + 8 + 1 + 1 = 30 days Sick pay statutory until 2 years – increases to 3 days sick pay Training and Development on offer – funding for further accreditations!
