Psychology Graduate - SEND Support (KS2 Primary)
Just finished your Psychology degree and want experience that actually means something? We’re working with a welcoming KS2 primary school in the West End of Newcastle looking for a Psychology Graduate to join their team as a SEND Support Assistant. This is a brilliant role if you’re considering a future in educational psychology, CAMHS, mental health, SEN teaching, or pastoral support. You’ll be supporting pupils who need a bit of extra help to thrive in school, whether that’s with learning, behaviour, confidence, or emotional regulation. The role: You’ll be working closely with children in Key Stage 2, supporting pupils with needs such as: Autism (ASC)ADHDSEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs)Anxiety and emotional regulation challengesSpeech & language needsBehaviour and engagement barriers Support may be 1:1 or in small groups, depending on the pupil and the school’s needs. Your day-to-day will include: Supporting pupils to access learning in the classroomHelping children manage emotions and behaviour in a positive, calm wayBuilding trust, routines, and confidenceWorking with teachers and the SENCO to implement support strategiesEncouraging independence, resilience, and social skillsBeing a consistent, reassuring presence in a busy KS2 environment What we’re looking for: A degree in Psychology (or closely related subject)A genuine interest in supporting children with additional needsA calm, patient and resilient personalityStrong communication skills and emotional intelligenceExperience working with children is ideal (schools, youth work, mentoring, tutoring, care, volunteering), but not essential Why this school?
