Salary: £26,707 per annum

Newcastle University is a great place to work, with excellent benefits. We have a generous holiday package; plus the opportunity to buy more, great pension schemes and a number of health and wellbeing initiatives to support you.

Closing Date: 29 March 2026

The Role

If you are a penultimate-year Newcastle University student looking for a year-long placement in a vibrant and busy marketing and communications team, we want to hear from you.

Following a major philanthropic donation of £1.2m over 5 years to advance the University’s enterprise and entrepreneurship offer, we are looking for a creative and ambitious student to support marketing and communications activities for the Rob Wood Enterprising Future Academy, the Careers Service and the Student Life team.

You will support the promotion of a range of projects and initiatives that:

  • Prepare students for changing labour market environments and offer alternative perspectives on their career options.
  • Support more students and recent graduates to consider self-employment/starting their own business.

We need an articulate and motivated student to work independently, and as part of a team, to ensure that services and events are effectively communicated to a wide range of students, graduates, academics and businesses.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic content creator - confident in front of a camera, with an interest in video editing and experience in graphic design - to capture and edit engaging student-led content for Instagram, blogs, newsletters and more.

You’ll have an eagerness to learn new skills, strong attention to detail, a flair for writing engaging copy, and will be an adept communicator who excels at planning and organising.

During your placement, you will gain experience in content creation, social media management, design, video editing, analytics, market research and so much more, all of which will support your future career.

You must be registered as a Newcastle University undergraduate student in 2026/2027, having completed the penultimate year of your undergraduate degree, in any discipline, by the placement start date of August/September 2026.

Interviews will take place on w/c 20 April 2026.
